Leeds 2010

Gymnasts from the club have just come back from an exciting weekend of competition in Leeds. On the Saturday was the team Acro event where individual scores were irrelevant and instead all scores from the team were added together to give a total and overall team placing. The team was made up of 4 pairs or groups and had to cover 4 different levels, our team consisted of Samantha and Amy (Grade 2), Amanda and Laura (grade 3), Tad and Beth.T (Grade 4) and Alice.P, Alice.S and Chloe (11-16 Womens Group). With some great perfomances the team finsihed in 2nd place behind Wakefield G.C and won £125 in prize money which will now go back into the club to contribute towards our savings for a new tumble track.

On the Sunday was a festival with 23 display groups from all over the Country and some travelling from as far as Dublin. Each display lasted 3 minutes and showed a range of different gymnastic disciplines and age groups. Lougborough Display group consisted of 18 gymnasts ranging from 11 years to 22 years and perfomed early on being the 4th act up. At the end all participants were awarded a medal of participation and to our great surpirse we won 1 of 3 further awards winning “Best Display Group”.

WELL DONE EVERYONE

Club of the Year 2009 Winners

We won ‘Club of the Year’ 2009 at the Charnwood Sports Awards compered by Mark Shardlow (BBC East Midlands Today).

Our thanks to South Charnwood School Sports Partnership for sponsoring the award and Charnwood Borough Council’s leisure services staff for organising the night. It was a very well organised night that we enjoyed thoroughly.

Well done to all members of LAGC without everyones hard work and committment we could not have won such an award.

Thank you all!
